Good News for Gun Owners

This good news

The supreme court today took the side of gun owners.Supreme Court Overturns D.C. Gun Ban This should be a wake up call for the lefties that want to take law abiding citizens gun rights away. The second amendment should not be infringed upon.

WASHINGTON -- A federal appeals court overturned the District of Columbia's long-standing handgun ban Friday, rejecting the city's argument that the Second Amendment right to bear arms applied only to militias.

In a 2-1 decision, the judges held that the activities protected by the Second Amendment "are not limited to militia service, nor is an individual's enjoyment of the right contingent upon his or her continued intermittent enrollment in the militia."

The court also ruled the D.C. requirement that registered firearms be kept unloaded, disassembled and under trigger lock was unconstitutional.

In 2004, a lower-court judge had told six city residents that they did not have a constitutional right to own handguns. The plaintiffs include residents of high-crime neighborhoods who wanted the guns for protection.

"The district's definition of the militia is just too narrow," Judge Laurence Silberman wrote for the majority Friday. "There are too many instances of 'bear arms' indicating private use to conclude that the drafters intended only a military sense."

great article Goon, and thanks for posting it for all to view and read. when I was 18 yrs. old the law required you to be 21 yrs old to purchase and obtain a permit for pistols.I purchased a 22 H&R pistol with permit after talking to the sheriff in person. He told me to tell the gun dealer that if you old enough to fight for our country at 18yrs of age then your old enough to buy and carry a gun at 18 yrs of age and that if I had any problems to have the gun dealer call him personally.Everyone who isn't a criminal should be able to purchase and carry a gun at age 18 if they what too.
