I find it funny that the press is now finally having an epiphany that they didn't ask enough questions about OBAMA during the election. Joe is right the Media including his TV station, basically gave Obama a free pass. No! Say it isn't so Joe. I mean really your part of MSNBC, which means you were part of the problem.

And they are impressive warriors ! We have not come across bad ones, as strange at it may seem to you when you know how critical French people can be. Even if some of them are a bit on the heavy side, all of them provide us everyday with lessons in infantry know-how. Beyond the wearing of a combat kit that never seem to discomfort them (helmet strap, helmet, combat goggles, rifles etc.) the long hours of watch at the outpost never seem to annoy them in the slightest. On the one square meter wooden tower above the perimeter wall they stand the five consecutive hours in full battle rattle and night vision goggles on top, their sight unmoving in the directions of likely danger. No distractions, no pauses, they are like statues nights and days. At night, all movements are performed in the dark - only a handful of subdued red lights indicate the occasional presence of a soldier on the move. Same with the vehicles whose lights are covered - everything happens in pitch dark even filling the fuel tanks with the Japy pump.

It's our money give it back.

Here is another person that gets it right. The tax revenue is ours, it beliongs to the people of North Dakota. If your state has a billion dollar surplus that means the state is confiscating too much of our money.

GRAND FORKS — Responding to Lynn Hellebust’s letter that criticized American’s for Prosperity and its initiated measure that will reduce North Dakota’s personal income tax by 50 percent and corporate income tax by 15 percent, I am having trouble understanding why anyone would oppose a measure that will put more money in the pockets of every taxpayer in North Dakota (“Group has billionaires’ interests at heart,” Page A4, July 29).

Obviously, Hellebust feels that the government knows how to spend our money better than the citizens do. Hellebust also must believe that the state is not taxing its citizens enough. If that is the case, I know for a fact that the state of North Dakota will accept a check that Hellebust would offer to further boost the record revenues that will be collected this biennium.

With gas at $4 a gallon, milk pushing $5 a gallon and everything else costing the citizens of North Dakota much more than in the past, I think the citizens also deserve to benefit from the projected billion- dollar surplus that we will have this biennium. During the last legislative session, state spending increased about 23 percent. The government benefited last session. This session, it is time for the people to benefit. Remember, the 23 percent increase in spending was made possible from tax dollars paid in by the citizens. Don’t you think they deserve some of it back?

AS of today, the majority of the iconic Chrysler Building should be in the - we expect - happy hands of the Abu Dhabi Investment Council.

The nearly $800 million deal, first reported by The Post on June 11, by the Middle East sovereign wealth fund included the purchase of 90 percent of the ownership stake while leaving local Tishman Speyer Properties as the manager of the 77-story tower.

Sources tell us the secretive ADIC will also soon close on the separate purchase of the retail sections that include the dramatic Philip Johnson-designed pyramid-shaped Trylons along E. 42nd St. that’s now rented to the Capital Grille steakhouse.

Is a McCain Presidency bad for the GOP?

Here is an aritcle by Stuart Rothenberg that seems to suggest just that. While I don't totally agree with the article he does bring up a few good points on why the GOP is nervous.

Republicans and conservatives are rallying behind Sen. John McCain’s White House bid, but not because they are so enamored with him or his agenda. Instead, their loyalty is based on their perception that Illinois Sen. Barack Obama as president, particularly with large Democratic majorities in both chambers of Congress, would be utterly disastrous.

Regardless of whether you agree with them about the results of a Democratic presidential victory later this year, a McCain victory might produce its own series of domino-like events that ultimately might hurt the Grand Old Party.

Illinois political columnist Russ Stewart has argued that the 2008 winner, regardless of party, will face such intractable problems that he will be a one-termer, damaging his party over the next four years and turning the White House over to the opposition in 2012.

I don’t necessarily agree with Stewart that a McCain victory in November would lead to the “eradication” of the GOP, but it’s easy to see how a McCain presidency could end up being a nightmare for Republicans.

In the worst-case scenario, a McCain victory in November could likely lead to a Republican bloodletting that would tear apart the GOP well before 2012, contribute to another good Democratic election in 2010 and hand Democrats such a strong advantage during redistricting that Republicans wouldn’t be able to recover for years.

The scenario is simple: McCain wins and immediately follows his own instincts — meaning he tries to patch together a series of coalitions on ethics, immigration, spending and global warming.

Some of the initiatives require bipartisan efforts, while others rely heavily on Democrats with a smattering of Republicans. A few McCain policies, particularly those involving the war in Iraq and the larger war against terror, depend heavily on Republican support.

The one thing that is sure is that a McCain presidency wouldn’t merely be a “third Bush term.” That’s a smart campaign slogan for Democrats, and it should be effective. But anyone who knows McCain and has followed his efforts over the years — including his 2000 campaign against George W. Bush — knows that, if the Arizonan gets to the White House, he’ll follow his own instincts, not the current president’s road map.

Duane Sand beats Earl Pomeroy on Tuesday

Of course you won't see a lot written on it. The Libs will say oh it wasn't during the general election but it did happen. It is time to send stuff shirt Earl Pomeroy back to ND permanently. This doesn't look like the doom and gloom that the left has been talking about. Ok republicans lets get out and do our part to expose Obama and vote Sand into office.

Duane Sand Outpolls Pomeroy in Statewide Primary

This campaign has a great challenge. We're looking to defeat an eight-term incumbent Congressman. Nobody's beat him before, but with your support we can do it.

Yesterday was the North Dakota primary. We didn't have a competitive primary in the Congressional race, but Duane still did better than Earl Pomeroy.

How can this be, when Pomeroy is supposedly so tough to beat? We didn't spend a dime on television ads, radio spots, or direct mail. But Duane still got more votes than Earl Pomeroy. Even though there wasn't much attention paid to our race, more North Dakotans voted for Duane Sand than Earl Pomeroy.

According to the Secretary of State's Web site, 89,059 North Dakotans voted in yesterday's Congressional primary. Those results are as follows:

Duane Sand Republican 46,164
Earl Pomeroy Democratic-NPL 42,895
Difference 3,269

Total 89,059
Precincts 528 of 528 reporting

Duane beat Earl Pomeroy by 3,269 votes!

The national press would have you think that Republicans are demoralized, that we're scared to death of the 2008 election and won't come out to vote. But once again, North Dakota proves the pundits wrong! Yesterday's election sends a clear message that Republicans are excited about our Republican ticket. This enthusiasm will last until November, and will bring us victory.

Ohio Gov says no to Obama

Here is some interesting breaking news. I would make this as a play an attempt at winning Ohio a State that Bush carried in 2000 and 2004. Strike one.

ABC News' Teddy Davis and John Santucci Report: Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D) was Shermanesque on Tuesday in saying that he would "absolutely not" be Sen. Barack Obama's, D-Ill., running mate even if asked to join the Democratic ticket.

Asked on NPR's "All Things Considered" if he is auditioning to be Obama's running mate, Strickland said, "Absolutely not. If drafted I will not run, nominated I will not accept and if elected I will not serve.

So, I don’t know how more crystal clear I can be."

Strickland was seen by some political handicappers as an attractive vice presidential pick for Obama because he is a popular chief executive and former House member who hails from Ohio, the state which decided the 2004 election.

Strickland was also a high-profile backer of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., which would have allowed Obama to present his selection as a play towards party unity.

Words have consquences.

You have have to say what a moron, this guy should have known better. While I am not a fan of Teddy Kennedy and I hate his political views I would never wish any ill will on the Senior Senator from Massachusetts. I also believe that Ted should have went to jail in 1969 for drowning Mary Jo Kopechne in the Chappaquiddick incident when Ted drown his mother car into the Poucha Pond. That being said, there is a difference between satire and classless statements. There are things you say and things you do not say.

Mark Madden, who made his reputation with bold, outlandish attacks on famous people, has been permanently removed from the air by ESPN.

His dismissal, which came down from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., came five days after he made a scurrilous remark about U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy on his 1250 ESPN talk show, which ran from 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays.

Mark Madden, who made his reputation with bold, outlandish attacks on famous people, has been permanently removed from the air by ESPN.

His dismissal, which came down from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., came five days after he made a scurrilous remark about U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy on his 1250 ESPN talk show, which ran from 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays.

"We've taken Mark off the air pursuant to our contractual rights," said Josh Krulewitz, the vice president for public relations at ESPN.

The decision comes less than a year after Madden signed a long-term contract. No decision has been made on who will fill Madden's time slot.

At the opening of his show last Wednesday, Madden said this about Sen. Kennedy, who days earlier had been diagnosed with brain cancer:

"I'm very disappointed to hear that Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts is near death because of a brain tumor. I always hoped Senator Kennedy would live long enough to be assassinated."

At the urging of station general manager Mike Thompson, Madden apologized over the air for his remarks about two hours later.

After initially reviewing the situation on a local level, Madden was neither reprimanded nor suspended. When asked if there would be some form of punishment, Thompson said, `No. The fact is we took action right away. Frankly, it was a comment that was stupid. He admitted that. I don't think it requires any such thing as [discipline]."

Obama IS anti gun...

This is going to be one of the most important elections ever. I always get queezy when I hear dems tell me oh don't worry the left isn't trying to take guns away from us. Yeah don't believe a word they say. Especially smooth talking lawers that are educated in ivy league schools.

Obama Wants Your Guns
If Barack Obama is elected President of the United States, he is going to send ugly, burly men to your house and confiscate your guns, which will be melted down and reformed into windmills. All civilian ammunition will be transferred to Yucca Mountain, to be stored with nuclear waste.

Well, perhaps that’s a bit overstated, it being campaign season and all, but we need to get your attention. This is not overstated: If Barack Obama is elected President of the United States, he is going to be the most anti-gun President in recent memory, graded a big fat F by the National Rifle Association (NRA).

You could have knocked us over with a hummingbird feather, then, when politico.com reported that Obama is “making a play for pro-gun voters in rural Pennsylvania.” Forty percent of Pennsylvania voters own guns, and the state has the largest per capita NRA membership in the country. The Pennsylvania Democratic Presidential Primary will be held on April 22.

Obama “is doing the gun dance,” writes columnist Robert Novak. “That is a dance of many Democrats, revealed by my private conversations with the party’s strategists. As urban liberals, they reject constitutional protection for gun owners. As campaign managers, they want to avoid re-enacting the fate of many Democratic candidates who lost elections because of gun control advocacy.”

Obama has taken a slyly different approach, at least in his campaign rhetoric. He says he supports the Second Amendment and an “individual right to bear arms,” weaving in his experience as a constitutional law professor. Fair enough, you say. But it is more likely that he just sees the Supreme Court handwriting on the wall, anticipating the court decision on the notorious District of Columbia gun ban case later this session.

Of course, Obama throws in the old “subject to reasonable and common sense regulation” caveat. In the District of Columbia, a complete ban on handguns for law-abiding citizens has been portrayed by government officials and their lawyers as “reasonable, common sense regulation.” Where does Obama stand on the DC regulation? Twice, Robert Novak tried to get an answer from the Obama campaign. Twice, the columnist got only a gobbledygook response that did not address the question.

Here’s Novak on Obama’s record: “Obama’s dance on gun rights is part of his evolution from a radical young state legislator a few years ago. He was recorded in a 1996 questionnaire as advocating a ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns (a position since disavowed). He was on the board of the Chicago-based Joyce Foundation, which takes an aggressive gun control position, and in 2000 considered becoming its full-time president. In 2006, he voted with an 84 to 16 majority…to prohibit confiscation of firearms during an emergency, but that is his only pro-gun vote in Springfield or Washington.”

I know this is a old commerical but for some reason I really like it. I think sometimes all the negative political rhetoric in Washington causes some to forget what really is going on, it isn't about winning votes, or flashy campaign slogans from hollow politics, it's about our troops being over seas fighting for their country. While some people don't seem to care; we are fighting two wars in two different countries. So take a minute away from your Ipod or your busy day to think about the troops.

Clinton Challenges Obama to a Debate in Indiana

The way I read this is Obama is his best when he is giving speeches and having people fainting in the background. It has become apparent that Obama does not do well when he has to stand up to tough questions and scrutiny or think well on his feet.

Of course; maybe Obama already thinks he has the nomination wrapped up and doesn’t think he needs to attend anymore debates. Hillary is right IF he becomes president his free pass from the media will be taken away from him and he will have to answer tough questions.

April 26 (Bloomberg)—Hillary Clinton challenged Barack Obama to debate her before primaries in Indiana and North Carolina on May 6, an encounter her rival for the Democratic presidential nomination immediately declined to take up.

``I’m offering Senator Obama the chance to debate me one- on-one, no moderators,’’ Clinton said this afternoon at a rally at a baseball stadium in South Bend, Indiana. ``Just the two of us going for 90 minutes, asking and answering questions. We’ll set whatever rules seem fair.’’

Obama campaign communications director Robert Gibbs replied by saying that the candidates have participated in 21 nationally televised debates, including four exclusively with Clinton.

``Over the next 10 days, we believe it’s important to talk directly to the voters of Indiana and North Carolina,’’ Gibbs said in a statement.

After the candidates’ last debate, held April 17 in Philadelphia, Obama hinted he might be finished debating Clinton, dismissing the forums as little more than a chance for her to ``twist the knife.’’ Clinton, who trails Obama in total delegates, won the Pennsylvania primary this week, giving her campaign much-needed momentum.

Referring to the April 17 debate in Philadelphia, Clinton said, ``Senator Obama’s supporters complained a little bit about the tough questions.’’

``The tough questions in a debate are nothing compared to the tough questions you get asked when you’re president,’’ New York Senator Clinton, 60, said.

Obama, 46, has said the Philadelphia debate ``set a new record’’ because ``it took us 45 minutes before we even started talking about a single issue that matters to the American people.’’

I found this post by a read over on Mary Grabar article that was posted over on Townhall.com Yes, Barack Obama, We Are Bitter. This post does a very good job laying out what happens if a Democrat gets the White House and more of a majority in the house and senate.

If a democrat wins the White house, and it doesn’t really matter which one, and if they continue to control Congress, as it appears they likely will… what will they change? The economy will likely collapse as soon as taxes are increased. We will all get ‘free’ health care - or free remnants of what was once health care. The rich will be taxed until they no longer exist. Companies will be ‘saved’ or ‘bailed out’ by the government - and all for a small increase in government oversight and regulation.

We will be told what cars to buy, if any are even built in this country again. We will be told the type of light bulb to use.

And not far behind, in a democrat utopia, we will be told how to vote.

The saddest thing about all of this is… we won’t even complain about free health care, taxing the rich, and if it is our employer who is ‘bailed out’ we will support that too! Like those on welfare, we will become slaves to the government and slaves to our own greed and insecurities. So when they choose all of the candidates for us, and we get to vote for the candidates they choose we won’t complain about that either.

Oh wait. They already did that, didn’t they?

We are not stupid. You don't hear Hillary Clinton or John McCain making statements like this. It is what it is. This stuff isn't going to go away. There is hours and hours of this stuff out there...

Or Comments like this… Not god bless American but God Damn America. There is no excuse for this stuff and it has no place in a church. So I am to believe that my country was attacked and we basically deserved it? That is what I get from the Chicken are coming home to roost. People will say that these questions are not news worthy or petty but I am sorry these are important questions; especially if the USA ends up electing this guy to the president of the United States. Who is he going to have on his cabinet? What is his foreign policy going to be?

The Latest Anti-Obama ad.

Here is the latest anti Obama ad from the North Carolina Republican Party it opposes Bev Perdue and Richard Moore for Governor. According to Fox news John McCain asked that it be taken down because it is too harsh. It may or may not be but the content of this ad is true.

Now some want to throw Hillary under the bus for uttering Fighting Sioux.

I am not a Hillary Clinton fan nor a democrat by any means but this is absolutely silly. The anti-nick name foes are always stirring something up and always seem to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Come on; honestly folks! Hillary Clinton is a liberal Democrat and I am sure she didn’t mean anything disrespectful by uttering the Fighting Sioux nick name at a rally for DEMOCRATS. Again I am not a fan of Hillary but some of the stuff she has had to face because the main stream media’s being in Barack Obama’s corner is down right ridiculous. It is surprising she isn’t down by 20 percentage points to McCain or Obama.

But Sele and the rest of the table said Clinton “stumbled” when she repeatedly used the full, and controversial, nickname of UND’s Fighting Sioux hockey team. Sele called herself a serious sports fan who’s not a nickname advocate, but not forcefully opposed to the nickname either.

By using the controversial nickname, Sele said, Clinton invited a divisive issue into the conversation that needn’t be there.

“I don’t think she recognized how contentious that is,” Sele said. “Unless you’re here, you can’t know that.”

A variety of UND student and faculty groups and many of the campuses’ American Indians have long opposed the school’s nickname. A legal settlement with the NCAA requires UND to retire the nickname within three years if it cannot win the endorsement of both the state’s Sioux tribes.

Clinton used the Fighting Sioux nickname at the opening of her speech after Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., presented her with a hockey stick signed by the entire UND men’s hockey team. She used the nickname again at the end of speech, comparing the determination that sent UND men’s hockey players to the upcoming Frozen Four competition in Denver with her own determination to stay in the presidential race.

Obama was also presented with an autographed hockey stick, but did not use the nickname while accepting it, joking instead that he’s a worse hockey player than he is a bowler.

Glassheim also called the Fighting Sioux statements an “error,” noting that Sen. Byron Dorgan called the team the “UND Sioux,” when presenting the hockey stick, considered by many to be a less offensive version of the name.

“I’m not violently anti-nickname, but it disturbed me a little,” Glassheim said.

Glassheim speculated Clinton was likely poorly prepared for the hockey stick acceptance, by staffers that aren’t sensitive to local issues.

However, he said, it’s just possible Clinton’s use of the nickname was a calculated appeal to her base. In primaries and caucuses nationwide Clinton’s supporters have tended to be more working class and socially conservative than Obama’s.

Air America has standards? Randi Rhodes suspended

If this isn't hate speach; I don't know what is? For republicans it time to sit on the sidelines quitely and just let the democrats beat each other up with their petty knife fight. My first question is; why does this person have a job in radio? This is the same woman that got drunk fell down and tried to blame it on on some right wing nut. Seriously folks, anyone can say stupid hateful stuff like this, but come on the 1960's are over. It is time to put down your water bong and throw away your roach clip, sober up and join the 21st century. Intelligent people don't use Fbombs when they are talking in public. Can you imagine if a republican had said this stuff?
